Better Late Than Never…

Well, I’ve finally decided to take the leap. After almost a year now of research, reading, preaching to others, and sort-of half-ass implementation in my own life and workout routine, I’m finally joining Crossfit Central here in Austin, TX.

I first came across Crossfit when I was searching for new, unique, and above all, painful and challenging methods to work out my Friday conditioning class at Austin Shaolin-Do. Besides Crossfit, I came across tons and tons of other amazing, inspirational coaches such as Ross Enamait, Beast Skills, Gym Jones, and tons of others. Excited, I implemented some of the exercises and protocols into the classes that I run, with amazing results!

Over the past year or so in my class, the people who come in and work out have gotten fitter, more agile, stronger, and more explosive than in any number of other years combined! I am proud of them all. Still though, the question still arose for me, “What next?”. When you are the one who does the pushing and workout planning, it is often easy to lose sight over where to go next with your own workouts. When you’re in the bottle, so they say, it’s difficult to read the label. I have wanted to include some more difficult motions in the class, but we lack the weight equipment, and I am ill at ease telling others to do things that I have not mastered for myself. So, where to go from here?

Ironically, I got my friend Eric involved in Crossfit a number of months ago. Well, the transformation in him has been astounding, and I certainly don’t want to be left behind in the dust! So after a few months now of “Hmm”-ing and “Hrrrr”-ing, I’ve finally scheduled what they call “Crossfit Elements” for tonight. It’s sort of a three-part series where they introduce you to the movements and equipment used in Crossfit.

I’m excited to be challenged and pushed in a workout by someone else again!
